2012 AUDITION NOTICE for OUTDOOR SHAKESPEARE PRODUCTIONS

There will be two shows this summer, running in repertory. See below for more information.

ROMEO & JULIET

TWELFTH NIGHT

Directed by Chelsea McCarthy

Open Auditions:                      Saturday, May 12, 10 AM – 2 PM

Location:                                 The Tisbury Amphitheater, Martha’s Vineyard,

Tashmoo Overlook, State Road, Vineyard Haven

(A rain location will be posted that morning, if necessary)

Requirements:                         Arrive at the audition any time during the scheduled hours and you will be seen. Actors should come prepared to perform a short (under 2 minutes) Shakespearean monologue from any play.

All roles open:                         Seeking young non-equity actors of all ethnic backgrounds (including experienced teen actors), with access to housing on Martha’s Vineyard. Musical ability a plus – the shows will feature live music.

Show dates:                            July 18 – August 18 (5 weeks)

Days of performances:            Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays

Time of performances:            5 PM

Number of performances:       20 scheduled shows – 10 for each play (Rain dates, if needed, would be on Sundays during the run)

Rehearsals:                             Rehearsals begin June 25. Rehearsal schedules will be set by the directors and stage managers as soon as the casting is complete. All rehearsals (unless raining) will be held at the Tisbury Amphitheater during daylight hours.  No Sunday rehearsals.

For Principal Roles: Approximately 20 hours per week.

For Supporting Roles: Approximately 10-15 hours per week.

These will be highly energetic shows with strong acting ensembles. Please be realistic about your physical health and athletic abilities. The shows will be rehearsed and performed outdoors in the Tisbury Amphitheater. This means “roughing it” – bottled water, bugs and porta-potties.
